TERM 1 | DRAWING - DEPTH, EXPRESSION & FORM

Term 1 begins with drawing the most popular of all the art disciplines. In this term we explore traditional drawing techniques in a relaxed and engaging way. From lead pencil to pastels and vibrant markers, 2D to 3D forms, still-life to cartooning secrets. Through out this term your child will create a number of artworks along with a major work of art. Their major piece is a work on wood panel, surface prepared and mounted* ready to hang at home.
*Works are mounted over the holidays ready for collection in Term 2

Through out term 2 your child will create a number of works along with a major work of art. Their major piece is a work on canvas, stretched, wired* and ready to be displayed proudly at home.

TERM 3 | SCULPTURE - MODELLING, 3D FORM & STRUCTURE

If Drawing is the most popular modality among our young artists, then Sculpture is a very, very, very close second. In Term 3 we explore an art medium which delivers the most immediate sense of discovery, accomplishment and pride. As difficult as it is for our teachers to cart these bulky materials around, the response from our young artists is well worth the effort. In this term we will discover abstract forms to sculptural realism, creating a range of 3D works* to stand proudly on a plinth, mantel or a parents desk.

*Sculptures created nearing the end of term will be glazed and/or varnished for longevity over the holidays, ready for collection in term 4.

Again our artists will create a range of works along with their major piece.  Their major work is on a wood panel, surface prepared and mounted* ready to hang at home and to star in our 2018 Kids Art Exhibition.
